The easiest way to remember the difference is: **DoorDash Drive = Delivery for your Smart Online Order orders** **DoorDash Marketplace = Customers order through DoorDash** --- ### **🚗 What is DoorDash Drive?** **DoorDash Drive provides delivery for orders placed through Smart Online Order.** When a customer places an order through your Smart Online Order website or mobile app, DoorDash Drive can assign a Dasher to pick up and deliver the order. **Order flow:** Customer → **Smart Online Order** → **DoorDash Drive** → Dasher → Customer ### *Important:* *DoorDash Drive is **solely used through the Smart Online Order system**.* *If your restaurant uses DoorDash Drive, you may receive **separate DoorDash Drive invoices**, even if you do not use DoorDash Marketplace.* **DoorDash Drive invoices** DoorDash will typically send an **email notification** when an invoice is available. If you cannot find the email, check your: - Inbox - Spam/Junk folder - Promotions folder The invoice email may sometimes be filtered into one of these folders. This is separate from DoorDash Drive. --- **What's the Difference?** | | **DoorDash Drive** | **DoorDash Marketplace** | | --- | --- | --- | | **What is it?** | Delivery service | Ordering marketplace | | **Where does the customer order?** | Smart Online Order | DoorDash app/website | | **Used with Smart Online Order?** | **Yes** | No | | **May be connected to Clover?** | Through Smart Online Order | **Yes** | | **Who handles delivery?** | DoorDash Dasher | DoorDash Dasher | | **Billing** | Separate Drive invoices | Separate Marketplace billing | --- **Why Did I Receive a DoorDash Drive Invoice?** You may have a DoorDash Marketplace account through Clover **and** a separate DoorDash Drive account through Smart Online Order. These are two different services. For example: **Your Clover system** → DoorDash Marketplace **Your Smart Online Order system** → DoorDash Drive Because they are separate services, **paying a DoorDash Marketplace balance does not necessarily pay an outstanding DoorDash Drive invoice.** If your invoice specifically mentions **DoorDash Drive**, it is related to your Smart Online Order delivery service. --- **How Can I Tell Which Service I Use?** Ask yourself: **Do my customers order through DoorDash?** → You are using **DoorDash Marketplace**. **Do my customers order through my Smart Online Order website/app, and DoorDash delivers those orders?** → You are using **DoorDash Drive**. --- **Quick Summary** **DoorDash Drive** - Used with **Smart Online Order** - Provides delivery for orders placed through your own online ordering system - Has its **own invoices and billing** - Invoice notifications are typically sent by email - Check your Spam/Junk folder if you cannot find the invoice **DoorDash Marketplace** - Customers order through the **DoorDash app or website** - May be connected through your **Clover system** - Has separate billing from DoorDash Drive **DoorDash Drive and DoorDash Marketplace are NOT the same service.** If you received an **unpaid DoorDash Drive invoice**, it is separate from your DoorDash Marketplace account and should be handled through the DoorDash Drive billing process.
