How to Enable or Disable Tips at Checkout

You may want to offer your customers the ability to leave a tip when placing an order online. The Smart Online Order system allows you to enable or disable this option and also configure default tip amounts.

Step 1: Log In to Your Smart Online Order Page

  • Use the login credentials you received during your setup.


Step 2: Go to Settings

  1. From the left-hand side menu, click on Clover Orders.

  2. Select Settings.


Step 3: Access Checkout Settings

  • From the blue menu that appears, click on Checkout Settings.


Step 4: Enable or Disable Tips

  1. Scroll down to the section called Tips.

  2. To enable tips, check the option "enable".

  3. To disable tips, check the option "disable".


Step 5: Configure Default Tip Options (Optional)

  • Directly below the enable/disable option, you’ll see two settings:

    • Tip Selection: Add preset tip percentages for customers to choose from (e.g., 10%, 15%, 20%).

    • Default Tip Amount: Enter a value that will automatically appear at checkout as the suggested tip.


Step 6: Save Changes

  • After making your adjustments, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

  • Your settings will now be applied to all future customer checkouts.
