How to Sync or Update your Clover Menu to Smart Online Order

If you recently added new items or removed old ones from your Clover menu, but you’re not seeing those changes on your online ordering page — don’t worry! This usually means a sync step was missed.

To fix this, you must follow these steps in order. If you don’t, you may run into issues like partially paid orders due to your inventory not updating correctly.


✅ Step 1: Make All Menu Changes Directly in Clover

Before doing anything on your Smart Online Order plugin, always make sure to:

  • Add, edit, or delete items directly from your Clover POS system first.

  • Double-check that the changes have been saved in Clover.

💡 Important: Do not try to edit or create items inside the Smart Online Order plugin directly. All menu changes should only be done in Clover.


🔄 Step 2: Perform a Manual Sync in Smart Online Order

Once your changes are made in Clover, you’ll now sync them into Smart Online Order.

  1. Log in to your Smart Online Order website (WordPress Admin).

  2. Click on the Clover Orders button (usually red).

  3. In the left-hand blue menu, go to the section called Import/Sync Inventory.

  4. Find the section called Manual Sync and click on the following buttons in this exact order:

    • Update all items

    • Update Categories

    • Update Modifiers

    • Update Order Types

    • Update Taxes

⏱️ It may take a minute or two for everything to update.


🧹 Step 3: Clean Inventory

This will remove any items that were deleted in Clover but are still lingering in your online menu.

  1. Still inside your Import/Sync Inventory settings, go to the Clean Inventory section.

  2. Click on the Clean Inventory button and work through the pop-up that appears, and work through the options that appear.

  3. Wait for each step to finish before continuing to the next step. It will automatically remove outdated or deleted items from your site.


⚠️ Why These Steps Matter

Skipping any of the above steps — especially the Manual Sync and Clean Inventory — can result in serious issues like:

  • Old items still showing online.

  • New items not appearing.

  • Customers placing orders for unavailable items, causing confusion.

  • Partially paid orders, where pricing or availability doesn’t match Clover.


Still Not Working?

If you’ve followed all the steps and your menu still isn’t syncing properly:

  • Make sure you actually saved your changes in Clover.

  • Try repeating the Manual Sync process and Clean Inventory step one more time.
